Raw, February 22, 2010

It takes a grown man to admit when he cries... and cry I did last night... figuratively anyway. Maybe it's because I realize the implications on the business but maybe just maybe, it's because a little piece of my childhood will come to a close on March 28, 2010 just 35 days after I turned 25.

Shawn Michaels will be done at Wrestlemania 26, he will not go over on Taker, beating the streak, this is the Heart Break Kid's retirement match. Maybe he has seen Flair, Nash, Hall, Waltman and Hogan on TNA and has decided he doesn't want to be there in his career. He wants to go out, having a spectacular match with a man who can put everything he has into it to make them both look good, but it will be a sad day for me. A buddy and mine, who previously did not have plans to go are looking into now, and if we aren't there to see it we will definitely be watching on Pay-Per-View.

Now on to Raw... I guess...

Jericho's heel promo was good, a little predictable with Edge coming out since we all knew this is where we were headed about 7 months ago when Jericho ripped on the Rated R Superstar for getting injured. I'm excited to see the match, don't think they needed the belt to make it good, but I'll take it.

Cena is pissed and Vince is condescending. Cena demands a match with Batista for the belt and Vince says Batista won't defend until Mania. Vince says that both Cena and Sheamus have rematch clauses and Cena gets to decide who gets the rematch, if he wins his match Cena gets the rematch, if he loses Sheamus. Cena is pumped, "Who's it gonna be?" Cena said. "Batista." Vince responds. Cena looks concerned....

WHAT THE HELL!

Cena just asked for a match with Batista, he wanted him so badly he demanded it and then when he gets it he looks concerned for his life like Batista is going to come kill him. YOU JUST ASKED FOR THE MATCH DUMBASS... Okay, I get it, it's not for the title, you have to earn it... but after Batista took advantage last night you should be hoping for any opportunity to get your hands on the Filipino Playboy.

Gail Kim vs. Maryse for the belt... wait Raw has a Divas' belt... oh, right, the tournament... I thought that was over considering there were three rounds and it started at the beginning of January. Maryse won after a bunch of botching... the end... over... stupid.

For the record if you want good Women's wrestling (not just hot blondes in skimpy outfits on a PG show), something I am a huge fan of, check out TNA on Monday nights starting March 8. Unless, of course, Hogan goes through with his plan to stop showcasing the Knockouts... in which case, there's always Shimmer (on DVD or the web).

I wish I could slap the writers for wasting Jillian like this... instead Jillian gets slapped again, but speaking of hot blondes in skimpy outfits, check out Kelly Kelly... Jesus Christ... I love her.

Orton and Cody stare off for a while and then banter back and forth, Randy apologizes for not being the leader Legacy needed. I like where this is going, it almost seems as if they are trying to turn the Viper face and he is getting cheered. This is probably one of the best team breakups that WWE has ever done.

Yoshi, Evan Bourne and Kofi vs. Randy, Ted and Cody it was a short match but did what it needed to, Randy got over on Legacy to some cheering, Ted and Cody didn't complete their plan and Evan got a high profile (for him) pin. One of the only decent parts of the night.

Christian vs. Carlito (MITB qualifier) there was rumblings that there wasn't going to be a Money in the Bank match at Mania due to a PPV be renamed Money in the Bank, but it looks like it's going to happen. It's one of the better matches each year at Mania so that's cool and Christian is always good in it... what you didn't think Carlito was going over did you...

Ty Murray actually had a few good lines and Kelly Kelly looked very good. The bullriding segment was done well, it was short and to the point, the guest hosts got some jabs in on Big Show and Big Show never looks weak and is really good in a comedic role. Jewel on the other hand... not so funny...

ShoMiz vs. Mark Henry and MVP, I don't get it, what do these two guys keep doing to get title shots. They earn a shot and lose, earn a shot and lose, earn a shot and lose, whether it is a singles match or a tag match. They suck, move on.

Wendi Richter in the Hall of Fame makes as much sense as the rest of the HOF, she was good but not great... although Rock and Wrestling did bring a new audience in... Whatever, it's alright, nothing spectacular though.

Bret Hart broke his leg and Vince invites him back... how did this get so boring so quickly.

Cena vs. Batista, Batista gave Cena the win so does that mean Cena vs. Batista for Mania... The announcer said NOTHING... there was no explanation...

Quick Notes
  • Elimination Chamber sucked, when it wasn't predictable (Jericho, Taker, HBK)  it was lame (everything else)
  • The Air Bourne looks awesome every time
  • Metroplex Wrestling's live show will be April 3, 2010 at the Metroflex Gym-Ft Worth MMA, more details will be available soon on Metroplex Wrestling's Web Site
